Turmeric belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. Believed to the native of South Asia, this rhizomatous perennial plant has a slightly bitter and hot peppery tang having mustard-like smell. The plant has rhizomatous roots that are used for the extraction of oils.

• Turmeric can slow down blood clotting and thus, it may increase the rate of bleeding and bruising. Therefore, people who are suffering from any type of bleeding issues must avoid the use of turmeric oil.
• Avoid using turmeric in case you have health issues such as bile duct obstruction or gallstones as it may cause an undesired effect in people suffering from gallbladder issues.
• Those suffering from iron deficiency should use the oil with the utmost care as it may interfere in the iron absorption capacity of the body.
